AFADZATO SOUTH DCE COMMISSIONS WATER PROJECTS, TEACHERS’ BUNGALOW

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Afadzato South, Hon. Manfred Tawiah, has led the second phase of the commissioning and handover of development projects across the district, with the exercise covering 20 projects aimed at improving access to essential infrastructure and social amenities. The exercise began at Goviefe Todzi, where a completed mechanised borehole water project was inaugurated and officially handed over to the community. The chiefs and elders expressed appreciation to the Afadzato South District Assembly, the DCE, Hon. Manfred Tawiah, the Member of Parliament (MP), Hon. Frank Afriyie, and the government for providing the facility. They described the borehole as a major relief, explaining that residents had struggled with water shortages for many years. They said the new facility would ease their difficulties in accessing water and appealed to the authorities to extend similar development interventions to other communities.

The commissioning team subsequently moved to Have Atsiame, where another completed mechanised borehole was inaugurated and handed over to the community.

At Nyagbo Odumase, a third mechanised borehole water project was also handed over to residents to improve access to water and support their daily activities.

The main ceremony took place at Tafi Mador, where a completed six-unit teachers’ bungalow with ancillary facilities was commissioned and officially handed over to the community.

In his welcome address, the chief of Tafi Mador, Togbui Adza Kofi V, said the lack of accommodation for teachers had been one of the community’s major challenges over the years. He explained that the situation had made it difficult for the community to receive trained teachers posted from St. Theresa’s. The chief expressed joy that the completion of the bungalow would help address the problem, providing accommodation for teachers posted to the area. He expressed appreciation to the authorities for responding to the community’s needs and supporting efforts to improve education.

Addressing the gathering, the DCE, Hon. Manfred Tawiah, said the government and the District Assembly remained committed to undertaking development projects across Afadzato South to improve infrastructure and the living conditions of residents.

The Assembly Member for the Tafi Mador Electoral Area, Hon. David Kofi Anku, also expressed gratitude to the MP, Hon. Frank Afriyie, the DCE, the District Assembly and the people of Tafi Mador for their contributions towards the successful completion of the teachers’ bungalow.

At Liati Dzogbega, another completed mechanised borehole was inaugurated and handed over to the community. Residents welcomed the project, expressing joy over the provision of the water facility. However, they appealed to the DCE and the Assembly to establish a kindergarten school in the community to enable young children to access early childhood education closer to home. According to the residents, the absence of adequate basic facilities has created difficulties for families, with children having to travel outside the community to access education and residents facing challenges in obtaining water.

They appealed to the authorities to consider their request for a kindergarten school and continue extending essential development projects to their community.

The second-phase commissioning exercise forms part of the Afadzato South District Assembly’s efforts to provide essential infrastructure, address community needs and improve access to basic social services across the district.
